I will perhaps go for the second brace should this wear out. I like it and seems to be helping.
At your own risk - Use a seam ripper to carefully cut the threads around half of the heel hole seam. I chose the half closest to the ankle when on. [See Picture]
Trim the fabric ring that has been released (trim fabric, not the brace), and lightly sew up the left ends. If you have a bigger heel, the entire fabric ring probably could be removed.
NOTE- I've not tested this long term yet, but so far it has been great with no damage to the brace itself.
Detail:
I owned a brand name pair like these many many years ago and loved them. Found these, but these cut off the circulation in my heel. I tried stretching them out around a bottle, but that only worked for about 20min.
I noticed the heel hole was lined, which kept it from fully stretching, and I don't recall my old ones with this lining. So I decided to take the risk, and removed the lining without cutting the brace itself. So far, this has worked.
The only problem so far is that the Velcro straps aren’t holding as well as at the beginning.
