It mixes easily with water or milk and doesn’t clump, which makes post-workout prep quick. The texture is smooth, not chalky, and the chocolate flavor tastes real without being overly sweet or artificial.
From a performance standpoint, it does what you want a whey protein to do. It’s easy to digest, sits well after hard workouts, and helps support recovery without feeling heavy. I use it after strength training and endurance sessions with no issues.
The ingredient quality and consistency are what keep me coming back. You know exactly what you’re getting, batch after batch.
If you want a dependable whey protein that tastes good, mixes well, and supports recovery without drama, this is a solid choice.
I like when a company looks out for its customers and I’m happy I made the switch, this powder mixes well with other fresh ingredients like bananas and peanut butter. It doesn’t really get clumpy and I find that two scoops doesn’t make me feel ill like with other brands.
I’m able to get a good amount of protein in one drink and I don’t get bloated. I bought Vanilla Ice Cream, Extreme Milk Chocolate and Cookies ‘N Cream…my least fave was the Cookies ‘N Cream, it’s just very sweet tasting. The other two flavors were phenomenal and taste like what they’re trying to imitate. I’ll keep buying this brand if they keep up this quality, you can’t really go wrong with the Vanilla Ice Cream or Extreme Milk Chocolate. Try it. 👍🏼👍🏼
What I love the most is that it doesn’t upset my stomach like other brands have in the past. It feels clean, light, and effective. If you’re looking for a protein that actually works and tastes great, this one is definitely worth it.
Highly recommend it! 💪🏽🔥
I do find having a small snack before hand helps digest better. Like a granola bar or banana. Especially if you are gonna have it first thing during the day.
I do mix my creatine monohydrate with it. doesnt effect the taste with or without it.
the larger container is nice, I pour it into an the smaller one I got to try it, so its easier to access daily and doesnt take too much counter space.
Ive been taking optimum nutrition protein for two months. I lift 3 to 4 times a week. Paired with creatine ive noticed a signficant bump in progress. sometimes finding the 24ish grams of protein isnt simple and can be time consuming (which is always money consuming) and this an efficient and nice way to stay on top.
Definitely by a Shaker, although it doesnt climb as bad as others.
Ease of use: there is a spoon in it.
Foaminess: not at all.
The world's most recognized protein powder
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey is a high-quality formula composed primarily of whey protein isolate (WPI), the purest form of whey protein available. This protein is ideal for supporting muscle growth, post-workout recovery, and achieving your fitness goals.
I’ve been using Optimum Nutrition protein powder on and off for more than a decade, and I always find myself coming back to it. The vanilla is my go-to because it’s so versatile — I can blend it with fresh fruit, mix in a little pumpkin purée for variety, or just enjoy it plain. It’s smooth, mixes easily, and never has that chalky texture you find with other protein powders.
What I love most is the flexibility: with vanilla as a base, I can have a different shake every day depending on what I add, but honestly, it tastes great on its own too. After trying other brands over the years, this is the one I’ve stayed loyal to.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, reliable, and great-tasting protein powder.
Each serving gives me 24g of protein, which is great for muscle recovery and hitting my daily intake goals. I’ve noticed less soreness after workouts and more consistent progress in strength training.
The 5 lb tub is huge and lasts me weeks (about 70 servings), making it a good value for the quality. Highly recommend if you want reliable protein with great taste.
It provides 24 grams of protein per serving, which is great for muscle recovery. The container isn’t very big, but it’s perfect if you want to try it before committing to a larger size.
I’ve never had any stomach issues with it; it’s easy to digest. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for quality protein with great flavor.
The double rich chocolate mixes clean with no grit, tastes like real cocoa without being syrupy, and goes down smooth whether it’s post-workout or meal replacement. It never bloats me, never clumps, and doesn’t leave that synthetic aftertaste some newer powders sneak in.
I keep it shelved in the top of my pantry next to my PX and staples. It’s part of my system now — structure, reset, repeat. No noise, no gimmicks. Just a formula that works and earns its place every time.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Powder in Vanilla Ice Cream flavor! As someone who's been using protein powder for muscle support and recovery, I can confidently say that this product has exceeded my expectations.
The packaging is sleek and professional, with clear labeling that makes it easy to understand the product's benefits. The 5-pound container provides an impressive 73 servings, making it a great value for the price.
But what really sets this product apart is its effectiveness. With 24 grams of protein and 5.5 grams of BCAAs per serving, I've noticed a significant improvement in my muscle recovery and growth. The vanilla ice cream flavor is also delicious and mixes well with water or milk.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality whey protein powder. It's definitely worth trying out
-Carb content
-Texture
-Cleanliness
Btw the pack is too bulky but the amount they give is way too much for 65 servings...
Which is a plus...
But overall tastes great 👍🏻😃
I almost very quickly recover mussel fatigue via this... This is soo effective.
I feel energized after drinking it..
The powder itself is not that thick, so it tastes like vanilla ice-cream
This brand was the second recommended on reddit. I decided to buy the small one first to see whether I like it and it is now my favorite.!
I'm unsure how to go from here since these tubs are an investment for me. I'd hate to be two tubs deep, out money, and unsatisfied with the outcome.
I do mix it with flavorless collagen, but I don’t think it’s influencing the overall taste by much. It doesn’t with other ON flavors. The flavor just reminds me of a disgusting watermelon pre-workout with these disgusting beads that would pop in your mouth. Idk where the familiarity is coming from but it’s close to repulsive.
First of all, This protein is a game-changer for anyone serious about their fitness and nutrition. Having tried various protein powders over the years, I can confidently say that this one stands out for several reasons, making it my go-to choice for post-workout recovery and daily protein supplementation.
Taste and Mixability
The Vanilla Ice flavor is my personal favorite. It has a smooth, creamy vanilla taste that isn’t overly sweet or artificial, which is a common downfall of many protein powders.
Good quality protein
Performance and Results
Since incorporating Optimum Nutrition’s Whey Protein into my diet, I’ve noticed significant improvements in my muscle recovery and overall performance. It’s helped me maintain muscle mass while shedding body fat
(The HACK) Pairing with Her Loss - Pheromone Cologne for Men
Bro, I paired this protein with this cologne and it changed my life 💀Boosted my confidence and charisma. Pairing this protein with Her Loss created the ultimate combination. While the protein powder helps you achieve your fitness goals, the cologne enhances your personal appeal and attractiveness.
It’s designed to subtly increase your pheromone levels, making you more alluring to those around you. And it freaking works!!! When you feel good about your body and your scent, it’s easier to project confidence and charisma, whether you’re at the gym, work, or social events.
Seriously, try a holistic approach to personal development!!! The physical benefits of Whey Protein Powder increase your fitness and health, meanwhile, the pheromone cologne boosts your confidence and presence, helping you make a lasting impression. This combination gives you a sense of well-being and self-assuredness that is both empowering and attractive.
I've tried various protein powders including top rated pea proteins and this is by far my favorite. After trying other options I purchased this after it was recommended to me by a female pro physique competitor. I got the vanilla flavor knowing that I could easily modify this at home to be chocolate (with cocoa powder) and vanilla works well with the various frozen berries and fruits I add. I don't naturally go towards meat / high protein meals and this has been an awesome way to help me meet those macros so I can get the most out of my workouts.
Pros
This comes in lots of unique flavors in case you're bored with the average vanilla/chocolate that other companies offer. The vanilla flavor is great, though. The powder isn't obnoxiously fragrant which makes it easy to add things like fruit and cocoa powder to switch it up. This is very affordable in my opinion. I purchased the 5LB. which means I pay a little under $1 per scoop of 24Grams of protein. This product is not lactose free however it contains digestive enzymes. I have a lactose intolerance and have not experience any issues even after prolonged use. So, I count the enzymes added as a plus. Apparently their facility claims that in manufacturing there isn't a risk of contamination with shell fish and tree nuts - which I was pleased to hear because of some of my allergies.
Cons
This does contain some soy to help with how well the powder mixes. This also does contain lactose for those who are looking to completely stay away from that (but see my pros note above on the added enzymes). I have also heard that the company cannot with certainty confirm that this powder is manufactured in a gluten free facility.
Bottom Line
This was recommended to me by a pro and as a rookie I would pass along a recommendation as well. Even if I stop consistently working out in the future I will still use this as I know I do not naturally consume enough protein day to day.
As far as protein powders go, I know ON generally has a decent reputation. It’s hard to know you can trust these companies. While they are tested for “banned substances,” at the current prices they sell this stuff for, I’d like some more info - independent lab tests for purity and safety would be nice.
Complaints and fears aside, I’m a gout sufferer and I can’t eat meat. This stuff is helping me out a ton in the gym. I’ve lost 50 pounds in the last 6 months and maintained lean mass while featuring this heavily in my diet.
Hit your macros, do resistance training, and go on some walks. Exercise is the best medicine!
1.) LOW CALORIE and LOW FAT - For me, this was probably the most important factor being someone who is try to shed fat. There are only 130 calories, 1g of fat, and 0.5g of saturated fat per scoop ( 1 scoop = 32g). This is by far the leanest protein I found.
2.) HIGH PROTEIN per scoop - If I was going to shell out over 50 bucks on a supplement, it better be worth my money. This powder packs 24g of protein per scoop. Another plus as Optimum Nutrition has made a high protein, and low calorie/fat product. You can't beat a powder which is 75% of pure protein by weight.
3.) ALL NATURAL ingredients - According to my research, the biggest dangers of protein powders were that they were chock full of artificial flavors and sweeteners which can cause harm if taken over a long period of time. This is why I opted for Optimum Nutrition's natural form of protein. This product only has natural flavorings, and natural cane juice for sweetness. Some reviews say that this powder lists stevia or Rebaudiana-A in the ingredients. This is FALSE. At least for me it is. My bottle lists evaporated cane juice as the only sweetener. No stevia in mine. I'm glad Optimum Nutrition did this, because there is still a lot of research that should be done on stevia before we can truly call it safe.
4.) Simple and versatile vanilla flavor - I must say that this product tastes fine. Its not a dessert/milkshake, and its not a treat. Its a protein powder SUPPLEMENT, and I'm satisfied with the way it tastes. I was worried about buying this because a few reviews said how this was "undrinkable" or had a "artificial sweetener aftertaste". I honestly don't have any such problem with this protein. Its very much drinkable. Even if you do somehow hate the flavor, just dilute the powder in a greater amount of liquid before you drink it. I love how this vanilla flavor is very versatile in that I am able to add it to anything and it fits. So far, I've put it in berry smoothies, oatmeal, and my morning cereal. I'm sure I won't get bored trying to find the different ways I can add this protein into my meals.
5.) A,GOOD PROTEIN BLEND with all the AMINO ACIDS I need - Through research, I found that there are so many types of protein, and the best type of protein is whey isolate or whey peptides, but these types of powder can get very expensive. I wasn't ready to spend that much money on a powder. This product lists a protein blend of whey isolates, whey concentrate, and whey peptides in each serving. Many other manufacturers only use the cheap whey concentrate in the products. I like how this is a high quality blend which keeps the cost low. ON has also put in all the essential amino acids, and BCAA's I need to help my body's muscles recover quickly after a workout.
Overall, I happy I made this choice. ON has made a product which is nutritious, low calorie, high quality, and all natural. What more can I ask for in a decently priced protein powder? Get this now, and I promise you won't regret it.
